About your instructor…Lisa F. Ehlers CN.,CH.
In 1994 I went to the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies where I received my state certification as an Herbalist, mostly for my own healing empowerment. Here I found that in almost all healing modalities the diet is what needs to be addressed first. This realization led me back to school to become a Nutritionist at American Health and Science University. In working with patients I learned that merely suggesting that they eat certain foods had very little impact on their future eating behaviors, if any. I saw what looked to be fear in people’s eyes and sensed how deeply rooted dietary habits are. I truly wanted to help people in their journey and in trying to figure how to accomplish this I came across a very unique cooking school, The School of Natural Cookery. This school taught me how to bring the healing arts into the kitchen.
Now, after fifteen years of integrating whole foods into my kitchen and daily life … I want to show you how to bring them into yours. My focus is on helping people learn about good food: What it is and what it isn’t, where to get it, and how to use it. I feel it is very important to understand that we all are individuals, and what is healthy for one, may not be for another. Therefore I am not a proponent of any “diets”. I do however believe that we should avoid any food that has been processed to an extent that it is more the product of industry than nature.
I’m grateful to all my past students for giving me the opportunity to cook and teach – it brings me great joy. Thank you for all the questions you ask, and the feedback you gave…it keeps me reaching further and always learning.
